Bangladesh is a part of South Asia and shares many of its culture. Usually elders, family and social relationships are highly respected. Business in general is dealt with more spontaneously and people are flexible. Bangladeshis are usually very hospitable and more relaxed than Westerners.
Bangladesh is a secular country with majority of population being Muslims in faith. There are also other religious groups, namely, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. There are also indigenous people living mostly in the hilly areas. Drinking alcohol is not encouraged. However alcoholic drinks may be available only to foreigners at exclusive places. A bit conservative dressing style for women is recommended but not too restrictive.
